Well, this is day 3 of our freestyle honeymoon cruise and we had a lot to do and not enough time to do everything but who cares we are on our honeymoon and are going to live up every minute of it! Our schedule for today was we would be reaching our port of call at 8am cruise ship time. The port of call we are going to visit is Roatan (Honduras). There is a lot to tell you about so lets get started.

Like we planned it we got up in the morning around 7 am just to see our ship pull into the port of call. Again, the wife and I woke up in another country overlooking some beautiful mountainous scenery with beautiful blue water all around us. We decided to go outside on deck 7 of the ship to catch a first glimpse of the beautiful scenery of Roatan before we made our way to breakfast. The locals on the pier were already getting ready for us. There were some dancers from Africa that we putting on a show for the cruise ship passengers. They were dancing to bring good fortunes to us passengers but also to the tip jar that they placed right in the middle of the walk way for everyone to pass. The scenery was unbelievable!

We then made it to breakfast at the Garden Cafe. Full all you can eat buffet the freestyle way. Can't beat it! We ate our breakfast over looking the water and the other gorgeous areas of Roatan. After breakfast we decided to get ready to go on our shore excursion of Roatan. The shore excursion was called "The Best Of Roatan."

As usual I put on some of my fishing clothes that I had packed because I didn't want to get my good clothes dirty so that I would have to run around the ship with dirty clothes. After we got dressed and ready we made our way to deck 4 which was the disembarkation deck. We made our way outside and found our tour guide. I could see all the other tour guides holding up their "lolly Pop" signs so that people would know where to go once they got of their ships.

We were guided right to our tour bus which was so different than the tour buses that we have here in the states. The tour bus was a Toyata Hiace which was not like any tour bus I have seen. The tour took us around the city of Roatan and I was shocked. It was the first time that I had seen armed guards at the courthouse. Each guard was holding assault rifles. The city of Roatan was very different for me to see because all the homes and businesses were very close together and were built on top of stilts. I do not want to give off the snobbish impression but I felt bad that the city and it's inhabitants were struggling to make ends meat. We saw small children maybe age 6 or so standing out on the roads with a Bojangles cup begging for money. I really feel for these people because I know I don't have much in life but after seeing this I am so greatful for the things I do have.

We then made it up the mountains to where the first stop of the tour. This was pretty cool because they stopped at a place that had the best view of the ocean I have ever seen. The water was turquoise in some spots and dark blue in the others. This is where the new Nicki Beach condominiums were to be built. This was such a beautiful area of the island.

Fishing Clothes

Our next stop brought us to a place where the African dancers put on a show for us. These dancers showed us the reason why they danced and also the reason why the men were dressed in disguise as women. No, they weren't cross dressers, the men were dressed as women because during the wars that they had in the past, the women were sparred and the men were killed so that the men couldn't pose a threat to take over the land that was rightfully theirs.

Then we stopped at a placed called blue lagoon fishing charters. The gentleman who owned and ran the place had on a Guy Harvey shirt. I felt right at home and complimented him on his shirt and of coarse he complimented me on mine. He told me that the fishing around this area was incredible because the fishing areas do not have the heavy fishing traffic like they do in Miami.

We then made it back to the ship and did our favorite thing was get some lunch and make it up to the bar and watch the sunset. We sat in our chairs and melted into the seats as we pushed off the pier and started to make our way to Belize, our next port of call. Belize was an awesome place so please read the next chapter of our honeymoon cruise day 4.
