It was the second to last day of our cruise and the Norwegian pearl was anchored just about 500 yards off their private island called Great Stirrup Cay. The agenda for today was to get on the tender and have an awesome day on the private island with of coarse a whole day of sunbathing, eating, rest and relaxation. And boy did we do just that.
Guy Harvey Tee Shirts
The wife and I headed off to our breakfast spot which was in the restaurant called The Great Outdoors. We had our usual western omlete with a ton of bacon and some bagles and a couple sausage links. We were eating outside overlooking endless seas and a touch of land which was on of the islands in the Bahamas. In the distance we saw another cruise ship. We didn't know what it was but the markings proved it was one of the Royal Carribean cruise ships doing the same thing we were but on their own private island. The excitement was getting to us so we had to finish up breakfast fast so that we could take our showers and get ready for another awesome day. This was our last port of call so we had to make it special and we did.
We got our things ready in our room and started to get dressed. Can you guess what kind of outfit I was wearing? Thats right, I was wearing a Guy Harvey shirt with some of my fishing shorts that I used as a bathing suit. The wife had on her 2 piece bikini and a see throw cloth that she used as a dress. She was looking hot and I was just an average looking dude.
We hopped on the tender and made it to the private island. We got off the tender and had to get us some beach chairs before everyone else got them because our destination was to sit out on the white sands of the beach and get us some sunshine. We found us some chairs that were about 20 feet from the water and we were in heaven.
We then wanted to go check out the shops that were on the island
and also to get us some sunscreen, better yet some sun tanning oil. These shops were cool. They had a bunch of items such as fishing hats, sunscreen and tee shirts that would make great gifts for our families back home so we went on a little shopping spree. When we got back we sat in our chairs and layered ourselves with some deep tanning oil from Tropicana.
Then the fun started. Lovely, our bar tender was on the beach and asked us if we wanted something to drink. Another bar girl offered us some manhattans because every bar maid knew what we were drinking through the whole cruise so they twisted our arms and we submitted. Lovely came back to us and said the bar didn't have sweet vermuth so we had to settle for a rum punch which was awesome.
Fishing Store
The wife and I sat in the sun relaxing for a couple hours and then decided to get us some bar b que. We had some hamburgers and hot dogs for a nice little lunch as we watched other people play volleyball in the sand. This island was so beautiful because it was in the middle of no where and there were no people there to destroy its natural beauty. There was a guy fishing on the shore and I asked him he caught anything. He said no but if he was able to buy the right bait he would of but there was no fishing store on the island so he was out of luck. He had to use artifical bait which wasn't as good as live bait.
After lunch we decided to go take a dip in the water. The water was so clear you could see right down to the bottom. The onlyu bad thing was it was very cold because of the approaching storms on the way. There were people snorkling all around the reefs which were only 20 yards away from us. You had to be there to really enjoy the natural beauty of this place.
We ended up deciding to leave the island a little early because we saw some nasty dark thunder storm clouds approaching but it was cool because we enjoyed the whole day and got everything out of it. We packed up our things and headed to the tender and made it back to the ship.
We got off the ship and made it right to our rooms where we dropped off our gifts for our families and headed to the pool deck for some more relaxation. We hung out on the pool deck for a couple of hours until it was time for the boat to leave. We spent another day overlooking the sunset as we made our way home to the port of Miami.
